Halloween Arizona Style!

The Foothills back to normal and sunny & Warm

Wash beds are back to being dry again, amazing what 2 days of sunshine can do!
All the rain that hit our area is going to make Springtime so beautiful because all the plants got a good drink of water to bloom beautifully in the Spring time.

Time to put up the Halloween decorations again...Yea!

Also got into the Dentist again and the infection in my tooth has FINALLY gone away...Hooray!! It only took 3 weeks...Jeez Louise! Mayra my dentist was finally able to finish the root canal. I have one more visit on Nov 2nd and then off we head to Benson AZ. to visit some friends for a couple nights before making a mad dash to Texas.

We'll be close to San Antonio with a ALFA Rally and get to head to the Alamo & Riverwalk. We LOVE that area! The Riverwalk is wonderful with little Bistro's along the walkway. The smell of delicious food is enough to drive you crazy! Not a area to be around if you are on a diet ! 

Raging wash area is now down to a small puddle. Everything is dried out and back to normal. I can tell that trucks had been in the wash cleaning it up from Debris 

If you see this sign and water is in front of you....pay attention and
DO NOT ENTER! One fool did not and the raging flow of water went right over the top of the small pickup truck. Hope someone gave him a hefty fine for having to be towed out! 

Crazy Storm hits the Foothills!

We got hit with the strangest storm that this area has EVER had. Storm literally circled the Foothills area and dumped 1 1/4 inches of rain within 3 hrs! A funnel cloud formed over Winterhaven 10 miles away but thank goodness did not touch down!!
Part of Hwy 95 was closed because 1/4 mile of the hwy was underwater.
Water was gushing UP our street and flooded our yards. The washes which are normally dry as a bone became rivers and one person tried crossing the wash with his pickup truck and the water was too deep and gushed over the roof of the truck!!
People were running around the town in their cars taking photo's...I was on my bike and couldn't believe it all!! Neighbor's said they have never seen it like this EVER! It even tried to hail! Yep in YUMA!

I had pulled up everything Halloween the night before, I could smell rain in the air and it was quite windy. When the rain started to rush under the gates I pulled up the inflatable pumpkin and set it up high with a cover over it from the rain. We had no less than 3 inches of water in the low areas of the yard!

The new sections have gutters that lead into the wash. Normally these areas are dry as a bone till yesterday. The wash looked more like a raging river! 

A normally dry area between 48th and another section of houses was full of rushing water heading towards the Foothills. 

Jerry & Mary Ellen Buschke's yard totally underwater! They had gone shopping in Yuma and did not know how hard the Foothills got hit by rain till they arrived home! Mary Ellen said she has never had this much water!

Good news too , our road is going to be resurfaced by next month so should look nice when we come back in March.

Hard At Work

Dan hard at work sifting the rocks out of the dirt to use in the front garden. The soil was recycled from when the cement apron dirt was dug up in front of the gates. We had it saved and put to the side for later.

 

Front of Property all Landscaped

Dan did a great job landscaping the front of the property. Really looks nice!

I bought a bunch of Bougainvillas

2 Orange ( this photo)
1 Royal Purple
1 California Gold
This is a beautiful bush when in bloom. Wind does scatter the petals though but I love them because they thrive on very little water.

Forum Friends

We were happy to meet my Forum E-mail friend Linda Binns and her hubby Stan Binns here in Yuma AZ.
Linda & Stan are getting ready to go into Mexico for 6 months.
We had a great time getting to know them and hope to catch up with them in Mexico before we have to come back to AZ.
