Happy Halloween Oct 30th-Nov 1st 2009

When we found out that Jojoba Hills was not going to do anything for Halloween Jenny was pretty disappointed so we decided to go to a Thousand Trails park that we have never been to PIO PICO.

There were two sides to the park, the South side with full hookups was packed and narrow sites but the North side was wide open and Dan preferred to park there.

We did find a site that had a shade tree because it was pretty warm. We noticed behind us were some Coyotes. We were told not to feed them and be aware to protect our pets. I did notice one guy was feeding them dog food which was a big NO-NO!!!

Not many people attended the Halloween activities, just a small group of children and Dan and I and another couple were the only Adults in costume. Because I had lost a tooth the day before biting into a Almond I popped off a tooth...great!!! So I decided to wear the clown costumes....thank goodness I had packed them Ha-Ha. We got 3rd prize for the costumes and got a free ice cream bar.

We saw 4 coyotes and one jumped the fence and was running around the campground and very close to our motorhome yipping loudly around 3 A.M.!!!

Oct 26th-29th Jojoba Hills SKP Resort

We had a great time visiting with Friends Bob & Dot Wisswell in their home park Jojoba Hills for four days. Played Hand N Foot card game almost every night. Enjoyed the ice cream socials and movie night.
Headed to Temecula for dinner at Daphnies our favorite Greek Restaurant one night.
Headed to a casino for a $15 free play day I brought $12 back, had a good dinner at the casino.

Since it was getting close to Halloween some people decorated their sites but this year the clubhouse was not going to do anything special for Halloween so we decided to head to PioPico instead.

Got to see Don & Linda Troyer there, glad we bumped into them because I bit into a almond and popped off one of my front crowns on my teeth. Don gave me a referral to go to his dentist. Note* I was quite pleased with Dr. Ana Maria Gutierrez in Algodones Mexico.

Hated to say good-bye but Jenny really wanted to celebrate Halloween so off we went down the road to PioPico. As much as we though Jojoba is a beautiful park we LOVE being in Yuma with lots of room and can have a guest on our property which you can't in any SKP park or these fancy resort parks in Yuma. It's a nice place to visit alot of friends that live there though.

Oct 22-25th Wilderness Lakes

October 22 we headed to Wilderness Lakes Park in Menifee CA. We had seen this park one time by Jeep but never stayed there. Had a very nice large site backed up to one of the canals. LOTS of ducks and Geese floating along the canals there. A little train would take kids around the park was quite cute. Lots of activities here and nice pools. Only problem was the smell if the wind hit just right! There was a huge dairy farm next to the campground...Phew!!!

We enjoyed just relaxing here and I rode my bike around the park.

We decided it was a nice park, but what we did not know was the ducks have LOTS of FLEAS!!! Biff rolled on the ground where the ducks had been sitting and the fleas jumped on him and brought them home with us. Poor Biff is allergic to fleas and they were eating him alive and suddenly he is beginning to look like a Baboon by the time he got back to Yuma!! Poor Biff!

Had a emergency one day, I was outside and heard a crashing sound and looked over my shoulder and saw someone on the ground with their bike. At first I thought it was a kid and when I ran over to make sure they were ok I realized it was a woman and no she was not ok!! I whistled across the canal for her husband to come quick after she told me where her husband was and then called the guard house to call 911. Aide car and fire truck got there quick. Looked like she had either broke her arm or dislocated her collar bone. The next day their little motorhome was gone so I assume she was ok.

Oct 19-21st Soledad Canyon Park

Dan and I have a favorite park near Acton CA called Soledad Canyon, we always pick a spot that is up overlooking the hills behind the park. This year we noticed a sign at the entrance to do not drink the water and to boil it first.
There had been a huge fire in August and had evacuated 3,500 people out of the park.

Down the road is a place called Shambala which is owned by Actress Tipi Hedren. She rescues big cats and Michael Jackson's two tigers are there for the rest of their lives. Tipi was ready to evacuate in Aug but luckily her compound was not in danger.
The trees were changing to Gold when we arrived, I love it when the leaves change colors. We could hear the Coyotes a close distance away and have seen them running through the park at night. Boy their yipping is loud when they were real close, scared the cats hearing them! They also have Raccoon's there too .
The area behind our campground did not burn which is good because there is another compound up the hill that has movie animals there. The owner was getting pretty nervous too and knew the fires were very close and luckily did not get as far to him.
Went to Palmdale to visit dear friends Jerry & Arlyne Ray and went out to dinner together. Sweet couple and Jerry was my RV Driving instructor and now Dan works with him for the RV Driving School that Dennis Hill owns.

Oct 15-18th Oceano and Pismo Beach CA

We had a great time in Pismo Beach, soaked up the sunshine and the smells of the saltwater. Enjoyed the Pismo Beach Clam Festival, got to see a cute parade and Dan and I got to be judges in the town's Clam Chowder cook-off. For $5 each we got to sample 8 kinds of chowder and then vote which ones were the best. To be honest I did not like any of them compaired to my own recipe!! I had gotten the recipe from Doogers Restaurant in Warrenton Oregon and then added my own secret goodies and hit the jackpot on taste!

I had made a huge double pot of it to feed my friends at the Winchester Bay Roving Rods group and not a drop was left in the pot, it was eaten up fast!!

We had fun wandering around the Pismo Beach and Oceano area in CA . Took one the best Sunset photo's I have ever taken in Oceano. Sky was ablaze in tangerine colors!!

Had a blast in Pismo beach and enjoyed being around the beach areas watching the surfers and all the beach houses.
We stayed at the Elks club in Oceano CA. The campground was packed with several groups but we were lucky to get a site. Had a nice fish & chips dinner in the lodge one night.

Oct 11th-14th 2009

Spent several nights at one of our favorite parks called San Benito Thousand Trails park in
Paicines near Hollister CA. Mostly relaxed but went to Gilroy the Garlic capital of the world and loaded up on some garlic power, pickled garlic and I loved the chili peppers apron.
Caught up with the laundry since we were on a Full hookup site, counted 9 deer, 1 big bull frog, female Peacock and a big Tarantula. I as usual scurried the big spider off the road so he would not get splatted!

No phone reception out here in the middle of nowhere except grazing cows and hearing coyotes at night and the smell of the vineyards close by. Good time to relax.

Oct 9th-10th 2009

Dan and I drove over to the coast from Cloverdale Calif to the coast to tour around Mendocino. Very twisty roads...I hated the twisty's but my Son Jason would love them on his motorcycle.

Loved the coast and loved the little town of Mendocino. Noticed alot of snorkelers there exploring the caves next to the ocean cliffs. Loved their cute shops and just window shopped. I was more intrigued by the sights and sounds and the beauty of all the flower gardens than the shops.

Checked out one of the casinos over by Cloverdale CA for dinner on the 9th. We got our favorite site at the Russian River Thousand Trails Park. Cats were glad to be back outside again. Got DirecTV up on the portable but could not get the internet satellite up so just went over to the clubhouse to check E-mail, not worth the fuss for two night stay. Saw two Does grazing on the grass next to the clubhouse the first night. Enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Elk Valley Casino Oct 8,2009

Caught back up with friends Ken & Bea Marler over at the Elk Valley Casino for dinner. They were staying at a park close by and we decided to Boondock for the night there. Had a huge dinner for $7.77 each and then got free play money for the slot machine games. Had a great evening and then went back out to the motorhome.

Later that night we had some rowdy young guys close to us and security told them to leave several times but before they did they spun donuts around the motorhome blaring their horn before leaving. Needless to say I had a restless sleep that night!!

Oh well I just thought "What goes around , comes around" there will be a day they are older and want some peace and quiet and someone will be noisy to them.
