I got a giggle seeing this fellow handing out lollipops to the kids, he represents a Pharmacy.

LaPaz Square has this beautiful Bronze monument supported by a Marble sphere representing our planet by Sculptor Jesus ( He-sus) Contreras. It was officially inaugurated by the Presedent Porfirio Diaz in 1903.

Remains of the Mina de Rayas , temple walls were put around this mine to keep those who were not the miners out.

This is the elevator to the mine shaft that would take the miners deep into the mine shafts to search for Siver & Gold.
Silver was discovered in the 1557 in a mine called VETA MADRE DE PLATA. One of the World's largest ,it lastest from the 16th century to the 18th century. Most of the wealth was sent back to the Spanish Crown until 1810, when the War of Independance began.

This is a mine we took a tour through, Gold, Silver and Quartz were found in the mines.

This is where we had our lunch while visiting Guanajuato, great lunch but must have been too good because the bees kept wanting to share our food!

While we were waiting to get our bus ride back to the RV Park , Dan started talking to an American. The fellow said he LOVED Guanajuato so much that he moved there and lives off only $1,000 a month there! Wow they must have cheap rent. Our guide said the houses that over look the city are about $250,000 but if it were some where else it would have been over a Million to live in that house with that view!

To the side of the Teatro Juarez you will see a spiral Staircase and behind that you see the tramway that takes you up the hill to the "El Pipila" statue of Jose de los Reyes Martinez.

TEATRO JUAREZ

One of the most beautiful buildings in Mexico. Construction was started in 1872 by Architect Antonio Rivera Mercado and engineer Alberto Malo.
The neoclassic style front contains 12 doric-roman style columns crowned by 8 muses and rests over the flight of steps to the theature.

San Miguel De Allende

The beautiful city of San Miguel De Allende. The city was founded in 1542 by Juan de San Miguel, a Franciscan Priest, in a place formerly occupied by the Chichimec Indians. In colonial times the city was strategic place in the route to Mexico and other large mining cities in the area a " el bajio" Guanajuato & Zacatecas. In 1862 it took on the name San Miguel De Allende a a tribute to Ignacio de Allende who was one of the first guerrilla fighters to combat against the Spaniards along the side of Miguel Hildago.

The city is considered a historic monument, still has the colonial atmosphere with it's narrow cobbled streets and Yellow, Red, and Brown houses. There are alot of Americans living here in the City. Lots of shopping and the charming hotels, Restaurants,various shops selling crafts. A beautiful city.

This was built in the 19th century by a Indian Architect Zeferino Gutierrez. It has a amazing neo-gothic style inspired by the European cathedrals

Yes they have internet cafe's, here is the door to one of them in town. I saw several young people in Guanajuanto sitting in the park with their Apple computers.

Found the beautiful mirrors I wish I had for the Casita I want to build in Yuma.
I would like one of these and a Mexican sink in the bathroom there.....some day.
