Sat Sept 8th Burns Lake

We spent the night at the Municipal campground in Burns Lake under the suggestion of friends Charlie & Gloria Goss. We loved that it was FREE!

We were the first to arrive and by the next morning there were 7 RV's of all kinds around us up in the tree area.

We picked an area right next to the water and cats were delighted to come outside. Weather was nice and warm, view of the lake was wonderful!
We had a some what quiet night, it was quiet till a car full of people came in after 11:00 at night and set up tents and were not exactly quiet all night. Then at 7A.M. the next morning a car full of kids decided to go to every campsite and honk their horn loudly and then drove off!

We noticed a German made class B motorhome that was at the last campground was close to us again. We have seen alot of European RV's in Alaska & Canada.

Campground sites in the trees were too small so we picked the site to the left by the light next to the water

Our motorhome was too big for the city park campsites so we parked right next to Radley Beach. What a wonderful view and FREE!
Dan washed off the grime on the car and the cats enjoyed watching the ducks come close in the water.

Tuesday Sept 4th-Fri 7th 2007

Dan, Steve, Lynette & I had a great time exploring the tiny towns of Stewart B.C & Hyder Alaska. Got to see the Bears and other crittters. Enjoyed some great meals together and then said our good-byes.
Steve & Lynette stayed an exra couple days so we gave them our Bear watching passes to use at the Bear viewing area..
Dan and I headed down the road and stayed at Burns Lake next to Radley Beach.

This is the road that goes up to the Glacier viewing area. Above the road is snow and to the right is the fog. The fog kept drifting in and out so one minute you could see the Salmon Glacier and then five minutes later everything was a white out from the fog rising quickly from the floor of the Glacier to to top.

This Black Bear was up close to the Salmon Glacier. It could care less we had stopped to take it's picture, it was munching away on berries and grass. When a ATV zoomed past our car he got spooked and started to hide other wise he ignored us.
Found out how great sunroofs are on our Jeep ...I open the top and stand up so I get a higher and safer view of the Bears in Alaska.

This is Lynette Rauscher and her hubby Steve Juntunen and the Inooksuk that Steve made out of rocks.
We had a great time with them up in Skagway and Stewart/Hyder.
Sept 4th was Jenny's 55th Birthday so we went out to dinner and Jenny had Alaskan King Crab & fillet Mignon...YUM!!
Found a great place for Pizza one night.
All of us agreed Stewart & Hyder was too cold and too wet to live in!

One thing we found alot near Haines, Stewart Hyder were lots of Bald Eagles

Most Germans rent RV's but I have seen alot that also ship them over.

Jeep at the Stewart / Hyder border. It rained almost the whole time we were there except the last day it was clear to go see the Glacier and Bears. Dan had to dodge the chuck holes everywhere.

Forget waiting for the Bears in the Bear viewing area, we went just up the road and they were walking across the road!

This is the Lagoon where the Bears in Hyder have been seen. When we arrived alot of photographers were under umbrellas waiting for the bears to appear. The Lagoon was a Turquoise color, I found a Beaver in it and some Cranes and Bald Eagles perched above it.
