Back in The U.S.

Hi folks, just letting you know we crossed the border on the 10th of March after a 90 min wait. Border crossings are being very careful now days. They got my one granny Apple and Dan's "Fud" Mexican Hotdogs....he didn't like them so he was happy to give them up ha-ha. We ate up everything else that could not cross the border, in fact we still had some cooked Pork sausage from Louisiana so we were munching on that before we got up to the border gate! Agriculture inspections got the rest of our fruits.....dang there went the Avacados!! Love the big Avacados in Mexico , you can get 4 or 5 for $1.00

We had to come back out of Mexico because of the Life On WheelsConference in Tucson AZ. So we were in Tucson Mar 10th-14th. We informed them that we will not be there in July in Moscow Idaho because we are caravaning with 3 other couples to Alaska that are friends of ours and have a Alfa Seeya also. Boy are we going to look interesting going through Alaska! We are identical on the outside but inside we are different. Karen pitched her sofa, Hannah put in a buffet/cabinets over her dining room table. Not sure what Barb has done to hers. Our color scemes are not the same either.

After Life On Wheels we went to Picacho Peak RV Resort to meet up with friends Bob & Sue Morgan. Bob used to work with Dan at Metro Transit. We stayed there 2 days and hiked around, swam, had a nice steak dinner at the clubhouse....we were almost the youngest there.
Caught up with Roger & Stephanie Cady ( another Metro Superviser) who now live in a beautiful home in Tucson and we all went out to dinner for some delicious Italian food in the next town over from the campground.

Saturday Mar 17th Bob hitched up and got Sue to the airport because she had to go back to work and Bob followed Dan and I over to Yuma and he parked at friends Bill & Joanne Lockwoods lot for a week and Dan & were glad to be home on ours.

Cats are on cloud nine to be home too and now I am getting my exercise patroling the yard because the little rugrats keep wanting to jump the walls and see Kitt the cat next door!

We have been busy weeding the yard, visiting with friends and neighbors, getting our long walks in and trying to keep up with the blog.

I have a new blog started JENNY AND DANS MEXICAN FUN I just have too many photo's & stories to tell to keep posting here so I will just post the Mexico photo's & stories there that way THIS blog is up to date.

It's warm here and we are loving it! Should get up to 84 degrees today and we have company coming in and stay with us for a couple days. Sid and Barb Zielke have a motorhome just like ours but a tad bit smaller. Barb made me a buffet cover for one of my compartment doors so when I flip it up and rest it on the freezer I have extra table space for Happy Hours and dinners and it says "The Purr~fect Retreat" on the side of it. Last time we saw them was in Mazatlan and we had a great time with them.

Will have to call David & Luci who ALSO have a Alfa and invite them over to see Barb & Sid for much needed Alfa Hugs.

Need to go next door to tell Bob & Terry that we will have to take a rain check on Happy Hour at their house since company is coming to our place tonight.

Boy I like this lifestyle....always a good sunshine day and someone to chit chat with here.

Good Friend in Mazatlan Mexico

This is Arlene Tupper who is a good friend of Dan's . They used to work together at Metro Transit. Arlene has lived in Mazatlan for 10 years. The last 2 years by herself since her husband's death. She speaks fluent Spanish and teaches water aerobics at one of the hotels in town 3 times a week. We joined her and could not believe how hard we worked till we tried to come out of the water! Oh Lordy I could barely move!

Arlene is a sweetie and sooooo funny!

Mario is a neighbor of Arlenes that takes good care of her and her apartment when she is not there. Her little dog adores him.

Swap Meet in Tonala Mexico

I have found the area that has all the stuff I want for the new casita when I make it. Everything is in the town of Tonala Mexico. We saw some wonderful stuff there but.....we haven't made the casita yet so we cannot buy anything yet...darn!

We had fun here but boy was it crowded!! Especially on the other side of the street!

Hope Algodones has some of this nice stuff too, need to go over the border and check it out soon.....hey I need some Shrimp tacos!

I found things I could use in the casita.....hey Dan....oh Dan......sheesh, everytime I want something he runs away!! Hum is he trying to tell me something ha-ha. All hand carved and tiled on some of the counterwork. Our friend Arlene got some things from this area for her apartment that I love.

Oh My! I'd love to have a tall Vase to put these in! Love the colors and shapes.

Good Friends in Mexico

This is Leo & Liz Godinez, they are friends of Dan's from Metro Transit in Seattle. Leo & Liz now live just outside of Guadalajara in a 3 story home. Both speak fluent Spanish and are wonderful people . Liz is teaching the young children in her neighborhood English and piano lessons. Both of them gave us a wonderful tour of Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque & Tonala.

Dan and I have to take Spanish lessons because Liz teased that we will only be speaking Spanish next time we come to visit! We had such a great time together and they also made sure our friends Dianne & Frank Gruelle had a good time too.

We had such a good time we WILL be back.....I saw lots of things I wanted for the casita that I want built. Dan just groaned but he's like me, he loves the Mexican look and colors for the casita ( small guest/art room) too.

Sergio Bustamante Gallery

When we were in Tlaquepaque ( lockey-paw-key) we came across this most unusual gallery of wonderful but strange artwork by Sergio Bustamante.

Our campsite at the San Jose DelTajo Trailer Park Resort in Guadalajara Feb 23rd-25th. We had a nice site next to a Mexican house so we got to have a little garden area to enjoy next to us. We did have one VERY large Agave plant right at the front door almost attacking us so we did have to cut one of the branches off. The next door neighbor had a beautiful back yard with a semi circle outside kitchen with a Star light right above it that really looked cool at night. We stayed 3 nights here so we could tour around Guadalajara and visit with Dan's friends Leo & Liz Godinez who used to work with him at Metro and now live in Guadalajara.
