Our Beloved Snappy
Gerry loved to be a clown and used to go to Clown school in Las Vegas every year and one in Minnesota. He was our leader for all the Boomer Countdown Clowns for the beginning of the Escapades with the Escapees. He got many laughs at all the funny skits that he would get the clowns to do.
We LOVED Clowning with him, brought out the child in all of us and we loved to get the whole audience laughing.
Snappy will be very missed by all.

Oak Ridge Boys come to Harlingen TX

Oak Ridge Boys started their group 30 years ago and have been a favorite Country band ever since.

Alot of changes but still so very talented and wonderful voices with alot of meaning in their songs.

We were delighted to see the Oak Ridge Boys in concert at the Fun N Sun resort today. Still great voices and have alot of new songs. 

Dan loves to play Pickleball so he found some guys who like to play also so he's a Happy Camper. 

We're in Harlingen Texas

Here we are parked next to friends Bruce & Rosemary Monte and Terry & Donna Styer. As you can see it rained hard and we all had to park on the cement patio pad instead of the grass or we'd be stuck.

We are at the Tropic Winds Resort in Harlingen TX. This is our last stop before heading to Mercedes for the beginning of our Mexican Connection rally on Feb 5th.

Weather in Texas has been the pitts.....Rain...Cold...Rain and more Rain! Feels like we haven't left the Pacific Northwest!
Yesterday it cleared up some and boy the people came out of their homes and walked about the park. Dan got a game of Pickleball going and I did a walk about the park to get my exercise. Day before it poured so much I had to go use the treadmill inside one of the clubhouses. Trying to be positive but sure is hard! At least we have friends close by so we can play card games to pass the time.

Nice BIG puddle next to us, we had to put a towel on the floor to not track mud onto the floor coming into the motorhome. Our step stool is sinking into the mud that we have been using to keep out of the mud....good grief!
Time to do a Sun dance!! 

Port Isabel Texas

Sat 20th we finally got a break in the weather and decided to explore the area and headed to South Padre Island and Port Isabel.
It has been so cold and rainy that we have not ventured from the park all week, so we were glad to finally get a day that was warmer and go play.

We were beginning to wonder that we left the Northwest for this crappy weather...hum. Yuma sounds better and better about now! Heard they had chilly weather too though.



The Light house in Port Isabel Texas was first lit in 1853. Treasures of the Gulf Museum focuses on 3 Spanish Shipwrecks which met their fate in 1554 just 30 miles North of Port Isabel.

A very popular fishing community, you can take a charter boat or just wade out in the surf to catch Speckled Trout, Redfish, Drum, Sheepshead, Sand Trout or Snook.

Watch Dolphins dance along the surface of the water in the Bay.

World's Largest Fishing Rod & Reel

Here at the Pirates Landing Restaurant in Port Isabel you can find the World's Largest Fishing Rod & Reel 

Colorful Dolphins

Dolphins can be seen in the Laguna Madre Bay. Here are some colorful statues of them.

I saw 4 Dolphins swimming as we crossed the Queen Isabella Causeway bridge. 

 

South Padre Island Texas

Normally the Rescue Center is open to the public but because of the drop in temps on South Padre Island and the water being too cold many of the Turtles in the area are in grave Danger. Workers and many Volunteers were searching the beaches to rescue the Turtles from dying in the too cold water that is normally warmer. 

Because of the sudden ice storms and cold air coming down the coast the waters in the Bay have been too cold and is endangering the Kemps Ridley Sea Turtle's.
