Memorial Day 2011

I went out to the cemetary on Memorial Day to put Rose's on my Grandma Ruby's grave in Richland WA. It was so beautiful to see all the flags at the cemetary-WOW!!!

I miss my grandma but I know when I cross over I will be with her again someday. Love you Grandma!!

Casino Hop With Aunt Rete

Aunt Rete and I had another great time doing the Casino hop, this time we stayed FIVE days between the Northern Quest and Cour D' Alene casino's. We also ventured over to Yakama Nation Legends and Wild Horse to play on the slots.

Rete and I figured out the best food and loose slots were at Northern Quest near Spokane WA. We had a blast hanging out together and we won and lost and won. Always came home with something in our pockets but having fun together was the best part of the trip. Rete and I both figured out we snore and we are both night owls! Rete could even stay up later than me!!! Our trip together will be very missed in 2012 because Jenny will be heading East for the Summer instead of heading West. Love you lots Aunt Rete!!

Back to Washington with Family

May 15th-June 9th 2011

Dan and I were lucky to get back into our favorite Park Horn Rapids RV Resort. We had been on a waiting list with 6 parks in the Tri-cities to spend a month. For the last 3 yrs we have been crossing our fingers to get places to stay in the Summer. Hanford Nuclear plant has hired alot of people to do a clean up out there so EVERY decent campground in the Tri-Cities have been booked solid for the monthly sites for at least 3 yrs..

We stay a month because it's cheaper and gives us more time with my beloved Aunt & Uncle. We love Richland and both agree if we ever move back to Washington it will be in Richland. It is very much like Yuma and Dan loves all the bike trails and I love to smell all the Roses!! Richland must be the Rose capital of the state!! I used to stay with my Aunt and grandma every Summer when I was a kid and have such fond memories of staying there. My Uncle Fred is a fantastic gardener, I love walking through his back yard and smelling all the beautiful flowers.
My Aunt has itchy feet and trys to escape the Summer heat and head places that are cooler, she LOVES to go to the casino's so of course we had to do a casino run and we had so much fun!!!

Storm came in and Flooding began!

We hustled out of Sparks Nevada to beat the storm heading our way. We hit snow heading into Oregon and then when we drove through John Day Oregon we saw ALOT of flooding !!!
All the rivers were cresting along Oregon going into Washington.....why are we heading back to Washington so soon????? NOT liking the weather forecast so far!!

May 14th 2011 Burns Oregon Rest Stop

Got ahead of the storms so the roads were fine getting into Oregon. Stopped at one of our favorite rest stops for RV's and trucks, moved to the side so we could put out the slides and internet dish. Noticed a couple at the rest stop with a sign on their van saying " Need money for gas" Did not see anyone handing them anything and did not see them approach anyone. After awhile they pitched the sign in the garbage and drove off.

It rained real hard all night long, lost internet after awhile, Dan had found 3 hidden cache's around the rest stop inbetween the down pours. We were the only ones in a RV all night, so pretty much had the place to ourselves. We remember in 2010 coming through Burns and woke up with snow all over the ground and on the RV, Dan had to get up on the roof and sweep the snow off with the broom or the slideout was not going to come in! So we were glad to only wake up to rain this time.

Sparks Nevada

Friday the 13th.....hum what kind of day will we have LOL. May 12 we spent the night at the El Capitan Casino, much bigger parking area than the Elks club in town. Casino was tight so lost half of what I brought in but at least did not blow it all.

Friday we headed towards Sparks Nevada with a side trip to Stockman's casino in Fallon to meet up for lunch with friends Lindy & Stan Binns. Got to Sparks in the afternoon and got to visit with Cousins Richard, Nancy & Pat. Pat stayed to visit longer and almost got to see some guy try to park his motorhome next to us and crash into our slideout. I yelled WHOA when some other guy was guiding him and Dan jumped out of the motorhome and told the guy he was going to park him and the bewildered " parker" looked relieved when Dan announced he was a RV Driving instructor and made sure the guy was parked further away from us. Glad we were in the RV or he would have hit us for sure!!! Guess the guy brings up a load of guys in the motorhome each year to the Nugget. Dan asked him when he was leaving and he said "Sunday" so we left Saturday only spending one night!! We were also aware that a storm was blowing in and wanted to get ahead of it so we were sad we could not have more time with the cousins.

Next time we come to town we will find a different casino that has a bigger RV lot , ours was too small for RV's , Semi's and buses all crammed together. I don't sleep well in those scenerios! I had totally forgotten it was Friday the 13th, I have yet to go into the Nugget to play the slots. My Cousin Richard is a Blackjack dealer there and my friend Sheri works there too!!

Charleston Peak RV Resort & Winery

We were scheduled to go over to Prefered RV Resort in Pahrump Nevada but chances were in our favor when our friend Dori Weissmann was able to get us into Charleston Peak for 3 days.
We had a nice Happy Hour with a bunch of other friends and Alfa friends. Loved the park!

Both Sasha Mio and Biff were car sick driving over to Nevada. Our radio went belly up in the RV but we hooked up the portable speakers we normally use on the patio to the sirius radio and hooray we had tunes going down the road!
Had lunch at the Nugget casino with friends John & Marcia Amshoff, good food , great visit with them. Ate dinner at Lakeside casino and it will be the last place we go to again Terrible's Herb's is terrible!
We both agreed if we could come back into the park we'll stay longer to explore.
Had a great time seeing Rick & Angie, Tom & Dori, Robert & Diana , Nancy & Bob and the other Alfa friends we just met.

On the Road Again

We left Yuma with a heavy heart, the fact we lost a dear friend Terry and having to leave home again. We feel so at peace here with great neighbors and lots of friends cruising thru or living here now in the winter time.

Our first stop was in Ehrenberg AZ to the Colorado River Oasis park May 7-8th, oddly enough our dear friends Mel & Carolyn Carpenter were staying there also so we rejoiced seeing them and the guys took us out to lunch at the Sizzler for Mother's Day. When we left Yuma it was 102 degree's and got up to 104 degrees in Ehrenberg! We were backed up right next to the Colorado River though so I was able to go stand out in the river and cool off.

Loss Of A Dear Friend

On May 2nd we grieved the passing of our dear friend and neighbor Terry Wiggins. Our hearts ache that we have lost one classy lady who taught us that having a sense of humor keeps you young.
I will miss Terry. she was one hell of a good card partner when we played the game Hand N Foot often.
You are missed more than you know Terry!!

Happy Birthday Moochy

Happy Birthday Moochy! Our ferrel kitten that we found under Mom's porch in Bellevue WA turned one on May 1st 2011. She's a ball of energy and quite the hunter. She's always chasing the lizards and trying to catch the birds and unfortunately she does catch them!
